- ✓ Single linear crack
- ✓ Not at the windshield edge
- ✓ Not in driver's line of sight
- ✓ Crack is clean, not contaminated

Why windshield cracks spread fast in Calgary.
Calgary's Chinook weather creates some of the most aggressive conditions for windshield cracks in Canada. A warm Chinook can raise temperatures by 20°C in hours — the glass expands, the crack opens. Then it drops overnight — the glass contracts, the crack locks in longer.
A 5cm crack in November can become a 40cm crack by January without being touched. Once a crack passes 15cm, repair is no longer an option — and full replacement typically costs $400–900+.
Alberta comprehensive insurance covers crack repair (under 15cm) at $0 deductible in most cases. For longer cracks requiring replacement, your policy deductible applies — check with your insurer.
